What Are Home Care Franchises?
Homecare franchises are management type franchises, where franchisees will employ a team of care workers to provide support to clients. With a growing population, demand for live in and occasional home care visits has never been higher. More and more elderly people are preferring visits to their own homes, rather than having to live in a care home away from one's familiar surroundings.
However home care isn't for everyone and there are still many benefits of care home franchises, for example clients with dementia, terminal illness, and those that may need extended levels of support.
As a management type franchise, franchisees will usually employ a team of carers, enabling the franchisee to spend less time doing care work, and more time marketing the business and building the franchise in their area.
Responsibilities of a Home Care Franchisee
As a franchisee, your main responsibility will be upholding the values of the business. Ensuring brand compliance is essential as part of the franchising process to ensure consistently scaled brand. The franchisee's job will be to execute the role of growing sales and providing the franchised service in their given territory. It is important that the franchisee trains the care workers effectively so that they follow the requirements set out by the franchisor, so that not just the franchisee follows the ethos appropriately, but so do the staff.
Another part of the franchisee's role will be to recruit staff and work with partners of the franchise to keep the franchise running. Some partners might include outsourced care training companies, care qualifications such as care NVQs and accreditations in certain care aspects (such as end of life support, DOLS, dementia).
It's not usually the franchisees responsibility to have care qualifications but it can be helpful in staff recruitment and ensuring staff understand what is expected of them.
Home Care Franchise Benefits
The main benefit of home care franchises is that you'll be providing a valued service in your local community. Every day you'll know that by being a part of a leading home care provider, you'll be making a difference in people's lives.
Another benefit of home care franchising is the flexibility that comes with it. As a management franchisee, you'll be able to work your own hours, fitting work in between school runs or at a time that best suits you and your family. You might not need a premises, because many management franchises can be run from home. It is better to have an office as you may need to employ admin staff as well, but this could either be a rental space or converted bedroom, etc.
With franchises that can be run from home, overheads are usually minimal. The main expenses will be staff training, staff wages and travel/mileage pay for their home visits. Some aspects like marketing may be covered as part of your monthly franchise fee, but be sure to check with each franchise to find out exactly what they offer.
