Children, Tuition and Children Related Franchises

Inspiring the Next Generation of Franchisees

There are more than 1,000 active franchise networks operating in the UK, each with anywhere from ten to several hundred franchisees. One of the biggest sectors within franchising is children. Thanks to growing diversity in the education and entertainment sectors, there are now more children related businesses out there than ever before.

Getting children active and involved is a mutual interest between businesses, parents and children alike. And it’s all thanks to franchising that make access to clubs and activities as easy and recognised as it is today. It is widely recognised that a successful education results in a better future for kids which is why more and more parents are eagerly looking into further education routes such as tuition and after school activities. Ultimately, getting the most out of education has a positive effect on a child’s future. If a child enjoys school, enjoys the activities they take part in – be it in school our outside of the curriculum, they’re more likely to pursue avenues later in life that build stronger careers. With growing demand for jobs globally, franchising is in a position not only to create these jobs but drive the economy forward and result in positivity for everyone.

What is franchising?

Franchising is a method of business expansion where a business owner makes their brand available for investors (entrepreneurs) to operate in their own area. In exchange for a franchise fee, the entrepreneur gets the right to trade as the brand in their own exclusive territory. Following the rules and procedures set out in the franchise operations manual, it is the responsibility of the franchisee to bring about the business as a success in their own area, all the while still reaping the rewards and flexibility of business ownership.

Franchising is considerably diverse. In fact there are over 100 children franchises in the UK, from education to sports and activity clubs, each with countless franchisees operating in various geographic areas. Children related franchises aren’t necessarily expensive, with investment opportunities ranging anywhere from sub twenty thousand up to the low end of six figures. What makes franchising such a popular choice for entrepreneurs is that you don’t necessarily need any past business ownership experience. Regardless of what academic grades entrepreneurs leave school with, franchising is all about enthusiasm, motivation and drive to succeed. Typically, a franchisor will provide all of the necessary training and support as part of the franchise investment.

Children that get involved with as many education and sports related activities in their childhood are more likely to be successful later in life, and because franchising is growing in awareness and support through the likes of associations such as the British Franchise Association, today’s franchisees operating in the children and education sector are very much inspiring and empowering the next generation of franchisees.

What Children Franchises are out there?

Franchising is growing, demonstrating resilience all the time. Year on year, more people join franchise businesses as they grow, and more business owners recognise the benefits of franchising for their brand, their reputation and their customers, opening up more opportunities within the £17.2bn sector that is franchising. There are new children franchise opportunities becoming established all the time. Ranging from profitability to low investment and franchises that can be run on a management basis, here are just some of the top types of children franchises.

Tuition and Education Franchises

At the forefront of inspiring the next generation of franchisees is education. Globally, around 120 million children do not complete primary education, and tuition centre franchises strong focus on maths and English – the core skills needed in today’s society. In fact, computer coding and IT clubs are growing in numbers, as the curriculum introduces computer science as a foundation of what can be called a “digital future”. And the fact is, children enjoy it. These franchise networks wouldn’t be successful if they couldn’t get the business, and they can. Children are attending Maths and English clubs, computing clubs and parents are eager to source tuition – many of which businesses are operated as franchise networks.

Tuition franchises are generally operated management style. This means you employ tutors while never doing any teaching yourself. You likely won’t need any tutoring or teaching experience, and the same can be said for the nature of most management type businesses like cleaning and home care.

Sports and Physical Activity Franchises

One of the most diverse children’s franchising sectors is sports and activity franchises. Generally, sport franchises are one of the most affordable types of franchises because they are usually run on an owner-operated basis minimising overheads from staff and recruitment. Not forgetting that equipment costs are kept to a minimum and usually form part of the initial investment. From fencing to swimming and after school sports, children’s club franchises are year-round business and can turn over anywhere from £500 to £1,500 a week depending on the work the franchisee puts in.

Party and Entertainment Franchises

Not all UK children related franchises are after school and education club businesses. Many children related businesses indirectly work in the sector. A good example is party hire equipment like bouncy castles – van based franchises which only require an office, a van and some storage space. Turnover for a single client booking can range anywhere from £100 to £500 depending on the nature of the business, and thanks to low overheads turnover can be substantial.

Empower the Next Generation of Franchisees with a Children Franchise

Franchising is widely considered a safer route to business ownership. You receive full training and support from the franchisor along with a track record of experience you can call upon. Thanks to many banks and third party lenders, franchisees can receive up to 70% funding plus a range of start up loan schemes are out there to support entrepreneurs financially. Compared to starting up a business from scratch, and compared to the costs that would otherwise be involved in buying a business already trading, franchising offers considerable flexibility both financially and operationally.
