What Are Management Franchises?
A management franchise is one where you don't carry out the labour the business revolves around. Specifically, management franchises will usually be a "hands-off" approach to the functions the clients receive, whilst your role will be of a managerial one.
One of the reasons so many people enjoy a management franchise is they only need to manage and oversee the day to day running of the business, rather than performing any physically laborious or time-consuming tasks. These tasks will usually be performed by employees within your franchise, some examples of which are cleaning franchises and courier franchises. With these management franchise examples, you would employ a team or cleaners or drivers, who would carry out the work on behalf of the company.
What Do I Do As A Management Franchisee?
Well, the business is yours. You've purchased the rights to trade under the franchisor's brand name. And one of the benefits of a franchise is, in most cases, the work-life balance, the flexibility to work your own hours. And with the business being yours, it's up to you whether you do the back office tasks most management franchisees would expect, or whether you do in fact want to get out there and do the work.
Some of the tasks involved as a management franchisee could include:
- Managing staff wages and accountancy related practices associated with owning the business.
- Getting enough clients to keep your staff workforce busy.
- Marketing and getting your brand out there, nationally or locally depending on your territory size.
Regarding the last point about marketing, some franchisors will actually do the marketing on your behalf. When carrying out your due diligence, be sure to check out what sort of marketing is included for the franchise investment.
